Just open the socket. There is no auth handshake, no token mint, no header to set.
The connection stays open until you close it, the server drains:
  • for a restart
  • you’re reaped for unresponsiveness
Reconnecting is always safe and requires nothing but re-opening the socket and re-sending your subscriptions (subscriptions do not persist across connections).

Credentials are accepted but ignored (backward compatibility)

For clients written against the old auth-required flow, the server still tolerates the following, but nothing is validated or consumed:
  • An X-API-Key header on the upgrade → ignored.
  • A ?token=... query parameter (any value) → ignored.
Both are no-ops. New integrations should send neither.
Deprecated / vestigial. POST /v1/ws/auth and the wst_ single-use token machinery still exist for now, but the WS upgrade no longer checks or burns tokens. Do not build against them.
